The beach shed
You will find the "Strandschuppen" restaurant on the sea side, directly opposite the Beach Motel, in the Hotel Bretterbude. You can hang out on the terrace, chill out and, if necessary, simply ponder the deeper meaning of life.
From 12 noon to 10 p.m. there is "the best food from the galley". Our neighbours offer tarte flambée, burgers, but also classics such as salads, pasta and chips.

The pleasure pirates
You will find the "Genusspiraten" cutter on the north-east bank of the Kommunalhafen harbour - you can't miss it, as it shines in red and white and in new splendour after extensive renovation. Equipped with a brand new professional kitchen, the team led by owner Estha Belli conjures up juicy burgers and hot dogs in Danish or Mexican style, fish and chips, fried fish or tasty chips. A variety of fish sandwiches are of course also a must on such a cutter!
You can either sit at the small counter and watch the food being prepared - or you can stay ashore in the Captain's Corner: two covered tables with four seats each or a row of open-air tables with benches are available.

The fish hut
Not totally centrally located, but absolutely worth a little detour: the "Fischhütte"! The Haasch family has been running a fish smokehouse here for over 15 years, offering delicious seafood exclusively from the Baltic Sea region. The fish is smoked in the traditional Altona oven on beech and alder wood. If you like, you can eat your favourite fish on the spot, with a choice of fried salmon or plaice, baked trout, redfish in beer batter, cod fillet or scampi.
Or would you like something to take away? Eel, mackerel, kippers, halibut or a curly scamp? Take a look - there's something here for every fish lover.

Meeting point fish hall
A big plus point of the 500 square metre restaurant "Treffpunkt Fischhalle" is its location: you can sit right on the edge of the harbour and also have a great view of the action at the harbour from inside - thanks to the 80 m long front with floor-to-ceiling windows. Just a few steps away, the cutters land, unload their catches or pick up fresh ice for the next fishing trip. In other words, you can get absolutely freshly caught fish here: whether fried, steamed or gratinated - fans of freshly prepared seafood are in the right place. If you're just popping in, you can also take a fish sandwich to go.
By the way: FischMagazin, the international trade magazine for the entire fishing industry, honoured the Fischhalle with the coveted Seafood Star for the best direct marketing in 2014.

To the old salt store
The restaurant "Zum Alten Salzspeicher" is really old - built in 1587, the granary was initially used as a grain store before standing empty for a long time during the Thirty Years' War (1618 - 1648). Eventually, however, it became the Heiligenhafeners' salt store - not only fishermen needed the valuable mineral to salt their fish, housewives also collected their daily salt requirements here.
Today, the Old Salt Warehouse is a rustic steak and pancake restaurant. Sven Wichmann has been running it since 2009 and has created an excursion destination where you can enjoy a tasty and plentiful meal at fair prices!

James Farm
Have you had breakfast with us today? Yes, then you have enjoyed regional freshness from James Farm. With this partnership, we are supporting Schleswig-Holstein's agriculture, promoting a Germany-wide pilot project and offering healthy and delicious food.
At James Farm in Hörup in North Frisia, eggs, dairy products, fine cheese specialities and meat products are produced in-house. The farmers, butchers and cheesemakers work hand in hand, resulting in short production and delivery routes. The advantage: freshness and sustainability on the plate.
The idea: to combine ecology, animal welfare and product quality. Traditional and regional breeds such as the Husum protest pig, Duroc and woolly pig live on the farm. 800 happy chickens scratch in the open field. In the neighbourhood, 20 Red and White dairy cows and 200 Deutsch-Angus cattle with their own offspring graze on the pastures
